Mary Spevacek, Media Specialist at the Hoffman Estates High School Media Center, is our host that morning. Heather Vulpone (H & J Educational Resources) is the sponsor of our first meeting. She, along with Patricia Kozarits, will be discussing new books, materials and offers from the following publishing companies they represent:

-Marshall Cavendish Publishing - Morgan Reynolds
In addition, you will want to stay and attend the second presentation to learn more about the robust community of librarians in the virtual reality environment Second Life. Lisa Perez, an area library coordinator for the Chicago Public Schools Department of Libraries and Chair of the ISTE Media Specialists SIG (SIGMS - an organization dedicated to supporting the technology professional development needs of school librarians) will provide basics on how to get started and places to visit in Second Life. Learn about the AASL-SIGMS Virtual Learning Community that meets monthly and prepare to attend upcoming meetings this fall hosted by Doug Johnson, Alan November, and Pam Berger. Explore options for your students to become involved in Second Life.
You don’t want to miss the delicious breakfast Heather has “cooked up” for us, the free books raffle, the virtual learning opportunities by Lisa, nor Mary’s tour of the newly remodeled Hoffman Estates High School Media Center. Additionally, you will earn 3.5 CPDU’s for attending the entire meeting!
