President’s Corner January 2011
Happy New Year! I wish HSLMA members happiness and health in 2011. I know we will all continue to grapple with the many challenges of 21st
century education and technology throughout the new year.
HSLMA hopes to add to your happiness quotient on Saturday, January 22nd, by facilitating your attendance at the annual ALA Booklist & Book Links Editors’ Revue 2011, presented by the Center for Teaching through Children’s Books of National-Louis University.
Our morning HSLMA meeting will be held at National- Louis University’s North Shore Campus, 5202 Old Orchard Road, Skokie. Our host for the morning meeting will be Gail Bush,
who will also take us on a tour of the Center for Teaching through Children’s Books.
Lunch will consist of a boxed lunch (see menu and price elsewhere in this newsletter), and then we will move down one floor for the Booklist event, beginning at 1 o’clock. This is a departure from our usual meeting schedule, but we think it is a great opportunity to pick up CPDUs while learning about “the best of the best” books. It is always exhilarating and illuminating to talk about books with colleagues.
Another departure from usual is this e- newsletter. The HSLMA officers realized that we just didn’t have time to pull together a print newsletter, given our 2-week winter break from our schools. Look for a print newsletter at the beginning of April in advance of
